The Second Story
The world is changing at a rapid pace, and the technology behind audio devices is evolving just as quickly. However, as people grow older, they tend to find comfort in the past rather than looking toward the future.

Even with the convenience of wireless earphones and headphones, there are still those who believe that the warmth of wired audio has a special place in their hearts. I am one of them. 😊

Among the portable DAC/AMPs I own, there is a device that truly captures this warm and nostalgic sound.

AUNE is a well-established Chinese audio brand, highly regarded by audiophiles for its premium products. One of their standout models, the portable DAC/AMP YUKI, is a compact yet powerful device that delivers exceptional depth and clarity in high-resolution audio. It’s particularly well-suited for enthusiasts who love vocal and classical music. With outstanding sound quality for its price and a genuine wired audio experience, this small device has the power to make every listening moment even more special.

I previously shared a review of this device on my blog. However, one thing to note about the portable YUKI is that its 3.5mm and 4.4mm output power is not particularly strong, meaning that an additional power source is not necessarily required. It works just fine with a smartphone alone, but when paired with an iPhone—which has power limitations—I sometimes felt a slight drawback.

Additionally, the power consumption during audio playback is 0.16A (0.66W), which is relatively high compared to similar products. While this results in excellent sound quality, it can also drain a smartphone’s battery more quickly. Given how frequently I use this device, I decided to add a MagSafe battery to my YUKI for a more convenient experience—allowing me to enjoy my music without worrying about my phone’s battery while on the go.

Below are images of the first version (V1.0) of the custom MagSafe battery currently in use with YUKI.

(Unfortunately, I cannot publicly share this case as I do not have official permission to use the AUNE brand name. When I previously posted about it on my Naver blog, I received numerous inquiries, but I had no choice but to apologize. Additionally, it seems that uploading the 3D printer files for free download or public printing is not an option. As a passionate audiophile and fan of AUNE YUKI, I have decided to keep this project for personal use only. 😊)

After using the YUKI, I noticed that it generates a bit of heat. Since TPU material is prone to discoloration when exposed to prolonged heat and light, I decided to add a patterned design on the sides to help with heat dissipation.

This time, I incorporated a fractal pattern to give it a fresh visual touch. However, due to the limitations of 3D printing, the surface didn’t come out perfectly smooth. Still, it’s definitely better than having no pattern at all. Not only does it improve functionality, but it also enhances the overall aesthetic, adding a touch of refinement to the design.
